چکیده

Differentiating between benign hepatocellular adenoma (HA) and carcinoma (HCC) is important for making clinical management decisions but can be challenging. We have reported liver tumor patients being discrepantly diagnosed as or based on different interpretations of identical histologic pattern - acinar/pseudoglandular pattern. In the study early hepatocarcinogenesis, it was proposed more than 30 years ago that such structural change classified HCC, this feature has been variably used among practicing pathologists since a diagnostic criterion HCC. conducted retrospective case series to examine outcomes tumors with component Classification HA HCC follow-up. group, presented multiple (>3) masses, underwent repeatedly biopsy, resection, ablation/embolization remaining masses showing no significant changes imaging survived 2-15 until now. identified 15 cases at least focal formation H&E examination. 7 (46.7%) had in one consulting institute. However, their long-term outcomes, HA/adenomatosis most likely diagnosis. comparison, within conventional were identified. The group range from deceased 2 months diagnosis survival up after transplant. use CK7 immunostain reticulin stain characterize areas acinar Group, often encountered adenomas fatty change. may highlight patchy CK7-positivity also apparent formation. hepatocytes forming acini/pseudoglands are invariably associated dysplastic nuclear features/small cell change, those mostly negative immuno-expression (2 contained CK7-positive area). Loss currently considered we observed minor degree loss steatotic foci parenchyma, changes. On other hand, even generally preserved framework (presumably very stage HCC), pseudoglandular evidently presence expression. This demonstrated gaining immuno-positivity HA. by itself not malignancy. When seen inevitably small CK7-positivity. Thus, direct relationship malignant transformation de novo doubtful. represent bystander reparative/regenerative like biliary metaplasia non-neoplastic damage, necessarily an step hepatocarcinogenesis.

Cytokeratin 20-positive hepatocellular carcinoma

The differential diagnosis between hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cholangiocarcinoma (CC) and metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma (MCA) may be difficult when only based on morphology. For this purpose immunohistochemical analyses are often required, utilizing antibodies directed against CK8-18, Hep-Par1, glypican 3, CK7, CK19, CK20. Here we report a case of a 65-year-old man who presented wit...

Cytokeratin 20 in Transitional Cell Carcinoma of Bladder and Its Relation with Prognostic Factors

Background and Aims: Immunohistochemical tests are one of the most important tests, which are under study to determine the prognosis of the cancers such as transitional cell carcinoma. By the time, flexible cystoscopy and urine cytology are the routine tests for following up the patients with transitional cell carcinoma, which are both operator dependent. On the other hand, cystoscopy is an inv...

The diagnostic value of cytohistological urine analysis and cytokeratin 20 in malignant and atypical urothelial cells.

INTRODUCTION To determine the ability of cytohistology and cytokeratin 20 (CK 20) expression in malignant and atypical cells (AUC) from urine to serve as a diagnostic tool for assessing urothelial carcinoma (UC). METHODS Diagnoses from 55 urine cytological samples from 55 patients were analyzed and correlated with subsequent biopsy findings. A total of 50 archived urine slides from patients t...

Myxoid adrenal adenoma with focal pseudoglandular pattern.

Adrenal cortical tumors with myxoid change are rare tumors. To our knowledge, only 22 cases have been described so far in literature, which include 13 carcinomas and 9 adenomas. A pseudoglandular pattern has been described in 9 of these tumors. We report a case of a myxoid adenoma of the left adrenal gland in a 67-year-old woman, with a focal pseudoglandular pattern involving about 20% of the s...
